~ Mt. Evans- Highest road in North America ~

We took a drive to Mt. Evans, & to get there you take the "highest road in North America that you can drive on". The road has no side rails at all!! It was pretty cool ..the views off the side of the road were amazing!
You would not believe at 14,000 feet up there is actually wildlife too!! The air was so thin, if you move too much or exert yourself & you are not used to it ..you will get altitude sickness..

So high up there!!..Notice there are no trees..That is because the trees can not grow up there. There is only rocks at that high of altitude (this is why they are called the "ROCKIES" )

They had a snowball fight at the top..since there is snow up there :)

A snow man in August !!!

The temperature was 80 degrees at the bottom & 56 at the top

This is an American Pika..at the very top you would not think they live up there!

You can see for miles!!!

the remains of the "The Castle in the Sky" !

a herd of Mountain Goats

this guy was on the side of the road up in the rocks!

some Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep on the side of the road!

This dude starred at me & my window was down..he was like 3 feet from me & I was freaked out he was going to Ram or something!!

This is a Yellow bellied Marmot

This is one of the many pretty views we stopped to look at near the top

Driving up was so freaky..it felt like we were driving into the sky & the road is really narrow!

Another view of a lake near the top.

This was really pretty... this water was so clear it was amazing!

A view of Echo Lake from above

an Idaho Springs waterfall on the way home on the side of the freeway

Daddy's Girl!!!

the kids loving each other!! So cute!

We stopped at Echo Lake for the kids to feed the ducks
Echo Lake was really beautiful!

We stopped in Evergreen,Co to eat a "Mountain Pie" a big pizza is what it really is..It was delicious!!!!

the little river running next to our lunch table..So Perfect!
after lunch we took a ride back to our car on a horse drawn trolly..
